just tried this de-solv-it graffitti remover i have followed your directions and have given it six attempts but it has only removed a small amount of the silver paint? dont seem to be having much luck with it and noticed the shell also has a layer of undercoat underneath :(

i think i might try soaking it over night?

Well I'm really surprised - I've never even heard of that stuff failing before ... i'd be wary of an overnight soak, I wonder if it might melt the shell :(

it took a bit of the silver paint off but completely failed to remove any of the undercoat? i think i will order a team blue groove replacement for this as i want it finished nicely

Why not sand it down until this undercoat is smooth and paint over it? :)

I have been thinking about a complete rebuild and clean of this super sabre ballracing and replacing all the marked parts and maybe replacing the msc with an electronic jobbie like a teu 104?? what do you guys think is it too much im after a project now my Kyosho raiders finished i have idle hands lol

I already have a team blue groove shell on order and already have some original decals once repainted.

any advice

I think this will be my next project.....im always a little scared of 'modernising' old Tamiya cars that are really original and in great condition but i dont really think the Super sabre is a 'rare' car so will update this so i can run it a little as the mechanical speed controllers can be a little unpredictable lol  i have a had a couple of runaways when the batteries have flattened in the past

is a sport tuned motor ok for this chassis? anything more suitable?

I've had "runaways" too...

A sport tuned (23 turns) would be very suitable. That will around the limit for a 101bk btw...
But the choice of motor depends on what terrain you will be driving on.
Do you want power/torque (off road) or top speed (on road) for you car?
A Sport Tuned has some of both but is probably slightly better for on road use.

I would prefer more torque for offroad use i think can you suggest an alternative to the sport tuned?

A Tamiya Dirt Tuned sounds like a better match in this case...

Tamiya 53929

Still will also be a safer combo with a 101bk ESC.
Plus the fact that it is rebuildable. :cheer:

Just ordered a bearing set from ebay and new chassis and found a small hairline crack in one of the rear gearbox cases where it has been overtightened slightly so ordered some new G parts as im a bit fussy and not replacing this would drive me crazy :S

combining purchases on ebay and ordering the parts from Japan can add up to some big savings on ebay with Tamiya parts i have noticed its just the long......................wait until they arrive :( ill fill the time with some stripping and cleaning i want to make this shine again.

Am i correct in noticing these share the same G parts as the Hotshot? just noticed on ebay.
