Another typical example. The FTX Rokatan has turned into the Reely Rat Max.

And by the way ...

We're not talking mere copies anymore, we're talking clones in different makeup. One and the same design, only variation is bodypaint and perhaps transmitter / electronics.

(( And I'm not doing the Raptor 6s / Atom 6s / DR8 ))

Which one is "the original" then?

The TL01 clone was from HBX and was sold under different names.
Touring version was actually sold at Biltema here in Norway, a warehouse chain in Scandinavia selling car, boat. everyday stuff.
I have made several threads about HBX and Tamiya actually sold the molds of the TL01 to HBX. So not a ripoff directly...

Hornet Grasshopper had 4 copies as I know of, Panda Cyclone, Mugen Manx and World Engine Rockbuster. The last one is very fragile.
The Rockbuster was also made by Academy and had name as Galaxy Buggy, Road Runner and Road Runner II. The Galaxy Buggy was near ripoff of Grasshopper, down to the green stripes!
Edit: The last I didn`t remember is Academy Minicraft Lazer.
As far as I know these was the earliest copies of Tamiya.

I`m sure there is more copies of Hornet / Grasshopper out there..
Edit: There was! Toy clone from China, Wild Phanter from Echo.
And Echo Flashhopper
