Tamiya TA05 MS "Restore" 1 year 8 months ago #80022

I have been meaning to complete this thread. My fancy ring light(my wifes ring light that i stole) decided to kick the bucket. I have not acquired a replacement that works as well. So my lighting quality has gone South. These are the best i could take with what i had.

I finished the 05MS with the Transpeed MS 10T motor, KOPROPO Volac MS ESC, temp servo, and KOPROPO KR-411FH(FHSS) receiver, (not period correct, it just looks pretty, and doesn't work, so it can be a display model). A lost skill was brought back with this build, soldering battery bars. I forgot how good of a soldering iron was needed to do this. To solder quick and not overheat the cells. Given these GP4300's were a long dead stick pack that i dismantled. But, the PTSD is still there. To top it all off, I have two unpainted Tamiya Subaru Legacy B4 2.0 bodies. I may do a Rheinard replica half paint up in the future.

I am really happy that i finally got round to this rebuild. It definitely looks the part on my wall, the other 05MS below it now looks terrible. But its a runner so i will contain myself.

Looks incredible.  I've never seen one of those Transpeed MS motors in real life and probably never will, but they sure fit these TRF chassis perfectly.  I can't say as I've ever had the "pleasure" of soldering cells together either, but it does seem like a good idea for a period display model.  I wish I had a proper saddle pack, for instance, for my TRF 414X.

I often see "matched" Sanyo packs coming up on Ebay, even some in their boxes still. I'd say worth having a look if you get the chance.

I am on the hunt for a KOPROPO Volac MS G3 ESC, which will be better suited for the build. Same coloring as the motor.
They are fantastic motors. I was fortunate enough to acquire a new never used, never soldered example as well. That will stay in my Evo display build.
