This is embarrasing, but everything is reverse! 11 years 10 months ago #32313

Allright be gently with this fool

I just got a nice used Acoms Technisport 2,4GHz set. I only have my Grasshopper to try it out with right now, but both throttle and steering are reversed :(

I can reverse the throttle on the transmitter but that's no good as it'll run 50% forward and 100% backward (and the brake function is reversed as well)

And it shouldn't be necessarey to that anyway?

What obvious mistake did I do here?

Bonus info, this is my first 'pistol' type remote

Cheers,

Ole

Hmm, setting both functions to 'reverse' on the transmitter seem to do the trick but why would that be needed? Isn't something like a Grasshoper a very common setup?

.. maybe I should have kept on racing cars instead of chasing girls in those past 25 years .. :S

It's hard to tell, but usually I have to reverse one of the channels, but I cant remember If I had to do that on my Grasshopper.

I think the reverse button is the only practical option. The other, option is to swap two of the wires going to the servos, picking the correct two of the three.

Thanx Lars :y:

Yeah, I reversed both functions and made some trimming/adjustments and now everything seems to work properly

I'm just a bit baffled that I need to reverse those two main functions as the car is very standard and thus one might need to do the reversing on just about any RC car?

(Edit : Didn't I put this in "Technical"? Is this where all (my) newbie questions end up?)

Swap the wires on the motor.

I thought about that .. and then I thought about why would that be needed? What RC car/tank/whatever would need _both_ functions reversed as standard?

It's working now, but I'm still a bit baffled. Which is actually nice. That means I still have lots of stuff to learn :y:

Fun it is!

I don't think there's ever been a convention on which way servos need to rotate, so don't think it's a case of there being anything wrong ... I seem to remember the motor wire had to be plugged in the opposite colour plugs on the MSC in my Grasshopper back in the day, and I had to turn the steering stick gimble over in the transmitter too ...

I had the same matter on my TTG froggy which neede a transmitter. I just found one steering wheele transmitter which was in 27 mhz and had reverse buttons. The car had the standard tamiya receiver set.

stingray, my GH is just very basic, but next week I'll put in a 540 motor + pinion, proper 2,4GHz and paint the wheels gold (my son insists and I've found no aftermarket GH wheels that are gold anyway) then I'll put up some nice pics :) I allready put up a pic of my HS

Jonny, thanx for you response .. so I may not be a complete fool afterall, reversing is normal then
