Programmable sound module 11 years 7 months ago #33832

I've had a crazy idea for another (!!!) project, but I would need some sort of sound module. Without giving too much away, I would need something that I could download MP3 files (or similar) onto that could be triggered by the third Rx channel, playing the file through a speaker.
It would also have to be cheap ('cos it's me  ). I'm thinking such a thing must exist in the depths of cheapy electronics from China. Anyone know of such a thing?
I've had a quick look on ebay, but not turned anything up.
I suppose a Rasberry Pi would do the job, but it's a bit pricy and over complicated for what I need.

This was an interesting read :)

triggerable mp3 player
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

:) why you don't use a mp3 reader with a small speaker wich with a electro switch will be switched and give sound?

Take one oft the silly greeting cards that can record their own message and attach it to a servo (open/close)

You can get one of these

This one seems better with separate on off switch. Also check out the video.

Thanks guys. Yes one of those modules look exactly like what I need. Shame they're in the States though :( Still, I suppose it is small and postage should not be too much.

Edit: Looking at this one www.electronics...odule.html as I'd like to have USB to download files
Erk! Shipping is more than the cost of the module! Total cost is US$26 !

Can anyone guess what I'm planning? ;)
Here's a clue...

Would the tune in question be "Greensleeves"?
