Hello everyone..
I have cleaned and rebuild a couple of my vintage 3 speed tranny for my bruisers but I am having some slippage when switching from 2nd to 3rd gear. I have shimmed the spider gear in the axles (front and rear, especially the rear) but it is still slipping and make a grinding noise. Is this from the tranny; clutch/fork moving the gear to the correct position and not catching correctly. I have inspected the gears carefully and had not noticed any major wear on them. Could it be that the brass gears are worn out evenly thus slipping. Ps, I have replaced all the bushings with bearings. When running in low gear(4wd), and when put under a bit of stress (climbing over rough terrain, even in low gear and in 4wd mode the grinding or slippage occurs. Any help and tips are greatly appreciated. Thank you from Cali PS, I love the 3 speed aspect and realism of these trucks. Fun fun to drive. I have my driver truck and the shelf one. Thanks again |

Hi, and welcome to TamiyaBase!
I don't have much knowledge about the internals of a Bruiser, but this manual might help if the issue is in the transmission: tamiyabase.com/...anual.html From your description, it sounds like you have the grinding noise whenever the drive train is under strain, so my guess is that there is slack somewhere, possibly to with shimming in the grearbox? Sorry for not being of more help, I hope someone else here have experienced this and can enlighten us -Lars Signature now gets correct formatting if you edit it in your Profile.
