:) Hi guys, I need advices to unglue the foam tires on my super alta academy 1/12th chassis. These tires are a little dry but I could wet them with special liquid but the rims need to be striped and repaint because the purple metal flakes is not very nice. :sick: :huh:
Does the boiling water work?

Yes Boiling water does work but we have found that once you have boiled the water you need to bring it back to below a simmer, then don't let the wheels touch the bottom of the pot so best to do 1 at a time :ohmy:
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Can you just remove the paint with the tyre still on and then mask the tyre to repaint the wheel ?

I think that I must remove tires because rims are difficult to clean and I want to put thems in caustic soda. I am not sure that the foam will appreciate that :whistle:

You may be safer to just removed (cut) the tyre off the rim and get new tyres :ohmy:

1/12th ACADEMY tires glups. I didn't found the car on devilbay so tires are I think unavailable.... :dry: :unsure:

I thought they came with rubber tyres :huh: But I had a search and they come with either :y:

Are they attached differently from Tamiya then? Foams are usually not glued but stuck on with double sided tape, I believe...

Hardly ever a successful salvage operation from what I've seen though.

:) I inspected and the foam is too dry to be removed. There is a lot of glue between rims and tires. I have to call super dad to make moon discs. Only for the fun :laugh:. I am disappointed because rims were nice.
