I was wondering if anyone else had ever speed checked the early Tamiya on road cars ?
I have the SkyRC Speed Checker and have been going through Tamiya's information coupled with data of the real cars found online , with a view to get the cars to run at scale speeds . It's proven tricky so far 😅 Tamiya state the RA-01 934 should run at 18kph on 4 x 4.8V Ni-Cd s on 4.7:1 ratio with kit RS-360 motor . (I only have the 935 MSC in mine , not the original MSC and an RS-36 motor ) So far I've not had the 934 register a speed ... The 935 , P34 , Countach are stated to run at 26kph ( near scale speed for the Countach ) on the highest ratios in the kit with the 380 motor and 6V Tamiya Ni-Cd battery. The Porsche 936 I have run at 5.8:1 with 380 motor and my 6V Overlander 3300 Ni-Mh battery and registered 17kph . Gearing up to 4.7:1 I registered 16kph 🙃 , but feel I need a longer flat area to try again . I'm yet to try the 380 powered Ligier and Ferrari or the F2 cars . Tamiya quoted the 540 powered Countach CS at 37kph top speed which is already beyond scale speed . I wondered if anyone else has speed checked these with near kit spec , eg all as kit , MSC , no bearings , the only thing non-original is the Overlander 6V battery, which weighs 305g identical to the Tamiya 6V original. Any thoughts ? 🤔

Local high school had a looooong driveway, and back-in-the-day they didn't bother locking the gate.
So, mate and I jumped in his car for some very non-scientific some speed runs with our Super Hornets. We got up around the 30km/h mark, can't remember exact speed. Only "mod" was the GReddy motors, everything else was bog stock, including the MSC and 7.2V NiCad.
