Hi all just a quick question I am doing a cc01 Land Rover. It does not have the original wheels, I would like to keep it as close to original as possible, I have been reading a lot about beadlock wheels just wondering if they are worth the money. I understand the basic reasoning behind them. They cut out the need for glued on tyres, is this the only advantage?

I have those wheels, you don't need to glue the tyres on. the tyres are quite firm which helps them stay, Especially as it's a slow mover 😊
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Beadlock wheels do exactly what it sounds like they would: lock the bead of the tire onto the wheel.  I've used lots and lots of them on rock crawler and trail trucks.  I've never used them on a CC-01 and I've never glued the tires either.  In my experience the CC-01 doesn't have enough power to spin the tires on the wheels anyway so it doesn't really matter.

If you're talking about the Defender 90, I've built that one if you're interested in reading about it.

Fantastic build, looks even better with a driver I think I will be trying to create a decent interior for mine.
As you say not the fastest but definitely good enough for what I want.
Thanks for the info and read blakbird

There's no room for a full depth interior because the chassis components are in the way, but the area from the window band and up is wide open so making a limited interior is totally possible.  That and a set of lights does wonders to add realism.

It's actually too fast.  Much too fast for crawling.  I've built a bunch of CC-01s and I've tried everything from an 80T motor to a low kV brushless to slow it down.  The brushless option (~1600kV) works great.

If you plan to actually drive this thing on trails then there are 2 upgrades I highly recommend.  The first is the 54519 Stroke Extension Link.  It will increase the travel of the rear suspension and give you much better articulation.  The second is the tires.  The stock tires are truly terrible (hard as a rock).  Pretty much any other tire will be an improvement.  MST has some that fit perfectly.

You may want to play around with locking the differentials as well.  It performs much better on the trails with them locked.

My cc01 was the first realese of the Wrangler.  And I had a lot of good times with it. More on road with a 13x3 kyosho mega motor. So  you can understand that the body didn't appreciate roll over.... several years later, I bought another body and the low ride kit. Now, it has been restored with aly hop ups and and pajero hard body.

Yes I thought the tyres were a bit poor.
Not to keen on the brushless option, I may be wrong but I thought you need lipo batteries to run them.
Read so many horror stories about them staying clear at the moment.

No, there is no correlation between brushless motors and Li-Po batteries.  I ran my Pajero on a standard NiMH battery with a brushless motor.
