Hello
I bought a 380 Sports Tuned Motor to put on my Grashopper. I need a pinion for it but i couldnt find anything online. Or can i just pull the pinion off the standart 380? Well this would need some force and I dont know, if i would damage it then. I hope sombody can help me. Thank you so much |

You won't get the pinion off the Grasshopper 380 motor without damaging the motor and the pinion
You need an 10T, 0.8mod pinion, but I've never seen one with the hole the correct 2.3mm for a 380 motor - so you'll also need a 3.175 to 2.3mm adaptor sleeve. Kyosho make one (part # BL45) but supplies are limited and you might have to pay silly postage depending on where you are in the world. 1/8" brass tube with .014" wall thickness (3.17mm x 0.353mm) is very close & I suspect what Tamiya made their adaptors for the vintage Holiday Buggy/Sand Rover from BITD. The conventional motor upgrade for a Grasshopper is a 540 motor, 18T 0.8mod pinion & to lose the clunky plastic adaptor from the gearbox. A Grasshopper (later upgraded to Hornet everything, then beyond that) was my first RC car so it does hold a special place in my heart, but TBH the best thing you can do to upgrade a Grasshopper is to buy a more modern chassis with proper suspension at both ends.

Integy Steel pinion 10t 32 pitch (32pitch and 0.8mod can be used together) with #C33040 is one option.
You will never wear out that pinion... Gmade #GM81410 is another one... Traxxas 6746 will also fit and will likely be the easiest one to find. Traxxas shops is everywhere.
