Is a 2 wheel drive hotshot possible? 1 year 7 months ago #80232

Hi allIs a 2 wheel drive hotshot possible?I was thinking of assembling my hotshot with just the rear gearbox as 2wd can be more fun.1) I was concerned that with no weight in the front gearbox it would affect the handling.2) In addition with no 4wd bar inserted would it affect the way the differential works?Maybe I would be better off with a NovaFox!Look forward to hearing from you experts.

It's certainly possible.  You could achieve this effect by simply omitting the prop shaft.  There would be no need to omit the front differential, but it would probably steer better if you did.  Alternatively, you could omit the front dog bone drive shafts which would allow the front wheels to just spin freely on their bearing like any other RWD car.

With that being said, the Hotshot is intended to be 4WD so the chassis was designed to be balanced more toward the middle.  If you make it RWD it is going to have very poor traction.  You want the motor to be behind the rear axle for a proper RWD buggy.

I'd be more interested in knowing what it goes like if you disable drive on the back end & put the wide wheels on the front :)
