Hello,
Question for the group. I am assuming this will be pretty elementary for some of you so please excuse my lack of knowledge on the matter and thank you in advance for any help. I am in the process of restoring a Tamiya Ford C100 kit #5833. It came with a JR BEC RX and JR servos already installed but no TX (See attached pictures). Rather than remove it all and replace it I would like to run what is already installed. Are my options as follows or are there other options? 1) Find an AM transmitter with what I guess would be a TX2 crystal since the RX has an RX2 crystal? 2) Find a matching set of RX and TX crystals and install them in both the existing receiver and the transmitter I find? If I go with option 2 will I need to source a matching JR brand transmitter, or, will any transmitter work? (i.e are the crystal plug ins universal amongst all brands). If it's not possible to use any transmitter are there any other brand transmitters out there that will work or be compatible to help have some options for locating a suitable transmitter? Is it possible to tell from this receiver what transmitter would have been with it originally? Again thanks for any help! |

I think you're probably looking for JR Beat 202 (yellow box) or JR Max 202 (black box with blue areas & print) 2-ch, 2 stick 27mhz TX - angular design with lots of chrome & servo reverse switches on the front left bottom.
Later models IIRC go grey and more rounded, can't remember what the model name is for the JR stick version of that, probably still a "Beat" and 2-something. Stingrays' suggestion is a sound one (it was made by JR & has right styling cues) if you can get on with a steerwheel. The brown angular (and more basic looking Beat 2) would be too old IMO, as would the the JR "Junior" from before that). This is my pre-BEC JR Max 202 40mhz FM set - a little early, and not the right frequency or type, but it's the closest thing I have for illustration edit - replaced pictures as I messed up the aspect ratios Attachments: |

Stingray-63 thank you for sending the link. I will reach out to the seller.
Do you believe that the RX crystal will be compatible and I can plug in to my RX and use with this TX? Or would I need to use the RX with this radio being sold and remove the one that is in the car already? Thanks again for your help! |
