i have left them switched on now for a full 15 minutes and they are warm but easily holdable with bare fingers.
all the connections were soldered and covered in heat shrink so i dont think there is any possibility of a short. when fitted the "loom" is secured so it wont flex about and break any wires but i will periodically check it for signs of pending failure

change of mind now, going to lose the headlights again and mount the LED's in the chassis at the front. better side light coverage and a lot less vulnerable. will post up pics tomorrow

Just a thought for you - have you been into poundland recently? They were doing some crappy wind up LED torches which have proper reflector bowls in them, perfectly sized for RC projects (Good cheap source of LEDs too). I've got a modified one hooked up to my tank at the mo & it gives a proper headlamp/spotlamp effect of light on the floor, so good you can see where you're going in complete darkness!

i cannot afford to keep shelling out money for something that is generally for pose rather than practical. lights look cool and since i got the idea in my head i have to have some, of some sort. but, to be honest i would be better off saving my pennies for some hop up suspension, so the lights are on a very tight budget now

i have now fitted the new lights, more like driving lights rather than headlights but they do light up the ground ahead reasonably. probably be a lot better without the front bumper on though!
