Just building my Blitzer Beetle re release and have come up against something strange. i was hoping to use some radio gear i already had knocking about. I have a HPI TF3 27mhz am Transmitter that is coupled up with its correct RF3 receiver operating on a band 6 acoms crystals set. I was digging around and found an excellent Acoms AS-12 servo for the steering and am running the kit standard TEU 104 BK speed controller. I thought i had it all sorted until i assembled it and have tried the electronics and i am getting a very very slight jittering action from the steering servo that only occurs occasionaly but i cannot seem to eradicate it? it doesnt seem to be causing a problem but is bugging the badword out of me!!!
Radio gear is a complete grey area to me and i was hoping someone could offer an explanation do you think i need to run a HPI servo off it not Acoms? Thanks in advance |

I have come over this phenomen several times and it is usually down to bad servo sircut board inside the servo..
Only way to fix this is to buy a new servo, or test a spare one that you know works or last ask a friend to loan out his servo so you kan test.. The rule is ofthen, the cheaper the servo is, the more likely you are to have a servo that jitters... |

I have tried two other acoms servo's and a Futuba servo too and they all have the same jitter? i have switched the receiver over for an acoms one and that eradicated 99% of the problem? not sure what to conclude from this.
Should i purchase a HPI servo in order to use this receiver (if so will a standard torque SF1 servo be sufficient for steering?) HPI receivers dont seem to like Acoms or Futuba servo's? its not a massive problem as the jittering was only slight but was a little annoying and id like to know why it happens. Regards |

I'm not that good in english....
But you say the 99% of the jitter wanished when switched over to a Acoms receiver? If that are the case I say just live with it, not much you can do about it.. And as you have found out some receivers don't other servoes and vica versa.. If I don't use my 2.4 system I run Traxxas receivers on most of my rigs and they seems to hook up weel with 99% of the servoes out there.. But the rest of the Traxxas radio system are rubbish imo |

Servo jitter can be lots of things, 27MHz gear is prone to interference from metal-on-metal rubbing, just a screwdriver on a screw nearby will cause it. If you suspect it's more to do with the actual radio gear, try swapping servos, receivers, transmitters, crystals, batteries etc & see if swapping any one of these makes a difference. The most common cause of jitters that are actually to do with the servo itself, is the internal feedback/positioning potentiometer - these get dirty &/or worn & feedback a dirty 'current position' signal, the servo then moves to correct the position, & so on. If the problem occurs with any servo (& probably only on one channel) the problem is most likely a worn/dirty potentiometer in the gimble of the transmitter
