Quick question will a HPI SF1 servo be sufficient for steering on a tamiya fast attack vehicle or should i opt for the SF2 that is a lot more expensive?

Blimey, you don't get many of those to the pound :S

I don't think ever spent that much on a servo - I used really cheap ones (

High torque servo savers by 3Racing are about $2,50 each.
They can protect a plastic geared servo especially. :)

Only slightly related - watch high torque servos, they use a lot of beans & in extreme cases can make your ESC go into failsafe, or even fry the BEC if it's a low output one. I've got a pair of Hextronic HX12K in my crawler project & under load they're pulling 500mA each (Doesn't leave a lot for lights & other servos etc if your BEC's a 1A one...). I've ended up hooking them up to their own supply, bypassing the ESC/BEC, but they're still creating havoc when the battery gets a bit dull. Similar issues with my 1/5th steering servo when the linkages get a bit stiff with dirt
