It was blued steel in an alloy holder ... pretty sure it was of the same type found on the Hotshot, Boomerang & Bigpig - I say "pretty" sure as I just looked & though it looks the same, it seems to have a different part number

The antenna is the steel one, with the aluminum base. part no. 5365002.
It's the same on a lot of models, The Hotshot, Boomerang, Bigwig, Avante, Hotshot II, Super Sabre, etc, etc. -Lars Signature now gets correct formatting if you edit it in your Profile. Use normal BBcode if you want.

Completely unrelated, but if you're fed up with paying extortionate prices for plastic antenna pipes, (& aren't particularly concerned with colour) look at buying nylon tube by the reel - I usually land 50m of 1/8" O/D natural (Nearly clear) nylon instrument air tubing for around 10 GBP (Same stuff as I've used for the hydraulics on my TXT). There seem to be quite a few people on Ebay selling it, but I usually get mine from RS or engineering suppliers through work. I've also heard that it's possible to dye nylon any colour you like with fabric dyes, but I've not tried that yet

Thanks - I've thought before there must be a better way than paying |

The only thing that I've found can be a slight nuisance is when you buy tubing 'on the reel' it tends to be curly, but it's easily straightened by holding it taught between 2 points (eg 1 end in a vice, hold the other end with pliers) & pouring boiling water over it, or giving it a tickle with a hot air gun (Keep holding it taught whilst it cools). Don't pull too hard whilst doing this or it'll stretch....
