i've got the horn! (badword) 14 years 10 months ago #4919

ok this months stupid question nomination goes to me again!
has anyone actually fitted a horn to their car?
i think it would be rather funny to beep at people to let them know you are coming through.
next question is where to get one and how to operate it with my basic tamiya TX?

I think you'd need at last a third channel on your Tx and a switch module in your car...
Should be fun though. :cheer:

Closest I've come was a siren fitted to my Mad MAx Capri/Interceptor, worked via a Turnigy electronic switch on the car & off the "landing gear" switch on my Planet T5 TX ... but the Turnigy switch for some reason has to have a common earth (i.e. both sides of the relay have to share the same battery), the siren wasn't that loud as it was meant to run off 9v but only got 7.2v ... I know the full option electronic black box (whatever it's called) that can be fitted to 1/14th trucks at huge expense has a horn that can be operated from the TX ...

I can't see how you'd do it on two channels, unless you used one of those light control boxes & swapped out one of the channels on that for a horn - but they're pretty limited - brake lights that come on when you brake, indicators when you turn, etc ... I suppose the least annoying channel to use would be the brakes :D
