Hi there, I am piecing together a brat, partly old, and patly re-re, and partly whatever I can find. I don't want to use the orignal wheels on this one, so my question is, do the blitzer beetle, or stadium blitzer wheels fit on this chassis if i get the hex adaptors for the back? will there be clearance issues anywhere?

If not, any suggestions? This will be a runner, and I want to have the ability to run different tires besides the stock ones, but I am having trouble finding any front wheels that are wider than buggy wheels.
thanks, jeff

Hi Jeff - welcome! :)

This message slipped through the traffic a bit I think so I'm 'upping' it.
And I'll see if I can find an answer to your question...

Here are some dimensions for the Blitzer Beetle / Stadium Blitzer :

Front - outer diameter 95mm, width 42mm
Rear - outer diamter 95mm, width 50mm

Brat tyres should be about 82 by 35mm...

The rear wheels will fit on the chassis with the hex adapters.
For the front you'll need steering knuckles with longer axles.
But I think the diameter might cause clearance issues unless you heighten it like a Mud Blaster.

Now for the solution... do you want more width than the tyres you have or just an alternative set?
Not smaller at least I'm guessing. ;)

What about lunchbox/pumpkin/willy2/madbull? - early lunchbox rears would definately go straight on, the other mentioned cars would need hex adaptors. Fronts MAY require some enginuity as I'm not sure whether or not lunchbox etc front axles were longer. It would probably be fairly easy to fit lunchbox front axles/stering arms into the U-shaped steel frog holders, but I don't know about chassis clearance at full steering lock

Are the death rover wheels just the wheels that came with the chrome blitzer beetle? AKA the Dyna blaster wheels? I have considered this option, but didn't know if they would fit or not. But if they did, I think they would look pretty good on the brat. I am not looking for a street tire though. But, the dyna blaster wheels are just 2.2's, so I should be able to find some truck tires that fit.

Am treading on new ground here? has NOBODY tried putting different wheels on the brat?

I am not looking for something as big as the pumpkin wheels, just something different, and more off-roadish than the brat tires. But I don't want to go to a much narrower buggy wheel up front.

I do believe they are all the same rims... :cheer:
I've seen people going for alternative Brat wheels but so far only tyre replacement.

The problem is it's 2wd & they're not so popular nowadays (Freewheeling fronts don't seem to be standardised). If you where looking for 4wd 12mm hex wheels, there's loads out there... I could say to you look at Annsmann wheels (Macnum?) but I've no idea what fitting they are. I had a set of 2.2s on a frog a few years back, I THINK they were Traxxas DT10 (Pin drive, remove the wheel adaptor to fit). I don't remember any fouling, but it was running without the bumper at the time & no RX switch. Sat here looking at Mu X & Toyota High lift wheels at the mo - they're the same size as Brat but a bit narrower & are 12mm hex. Another option is find some wheels you like & adapt them to fit
