I think the plan was to convert it into a Scalextric car, but it obviously didn't happen.

Rare? Worth anything?

Really???!! It's not in the box, but it is not in bad nick. One tyre has a split.
There is a possibility (and I have a slight memory) that I might have bought it in Japan. I was travelling a lot with work back then and I went to Japan several times.
Is it a Japanese model or was it available in the UK as well?

We used to spend hours playing with the battery 4x4s, still got my Tamiya Ranger, a Matchbox Rough Rider & a few Stompers. My bro used to have the mini Boomerang, but it lacked somewhat in the beans/pulling power department, that was more about speed
