If you wanted to stay with 27MHz radio for originality and/or save some money, used transmitters can be had very cheaply (normally <£10). In fact I have several probably from about the right era (Jonny would be able to advise better which model that would be) - you could have one of those for the price of postage. Having said that 2.4GHz do offer a lot of advantages. Re ESCs, I have heard good things about these for the price: www.wheelspinmo.../i/210105/ Edit: regarding the TBLE-02 - not heard good things about that when using brushed motors. |

The Super Sabres release date was October 1987 so "correct" transmitters would be the Acoms Techniplus Mk.III (square looking grey/very dark grey) or Futaba Attack (brown). However with a build date of around 1990 it'd probably be an Acoms Techniplus Mk.V (the chrome one) or a Futaba Attack-R (again a chrome one). |

I've got a Techniplus MkIII, but it's pretty knackered. Doubt it works TBH.
I've also got a Futaba Attack R (FP-T2NBR) - working, I think, but sticks are a bit bent and a Techniplus MkV in decent nick. Also a couple each of Techniplus Alphas and Futaba Attack T2DR. Oh and a Hobao wheel Tx. |
