The more I get into this car the more problems I find. Now it appears either the transmitter or receiver is not working properly. Only one channels on the receiver is functioning. Channel 1 which is steering does not respond. It is a vintage Futaba FP-T2PKA Magnum Jr radio with a FP-R2GS receiver. I'm also wondering if it might be that one of the crystals is bad.

Yes, I've discovered some parts are next to impossible to find for this car. But I'll keep digging. The gear cover was a major roadblock.

It's a chassis with some cousins though, doing a bit of research in the parts database here or just a glance at the Seidl results could produce some extra leads:

Thanks for that lead. Like I said, with the folks here most anything is possible. I'm glad I stumbled onto this site.

The FF-01 is my favourite on road Tamiya chassis, I think I had five at one point
I know I don't have any spare plastic parts due to a combination of "spirited" driving Radio issues - it's unlikely to be the crystals (or it wouldn't work at all), it's possible a reciever could fail on one channel but I've never seen it, Futaba transmitters are well built, but I have seen wiring to a potentiometer fail ... as it's channel one that's failed I suspect it's just the steering servo that's failed as they have a much harder life - either a burned out/rusted out motor, or more likely, broken teeth on one of the gears. I'm sure you've already worked this out, but initial diagnosis is best done with known good compatible parts. Welcome on board |

I swapped the servo to channel two and it worked fine so I know it is not the servo. But thanks for the thoughts.
