Hi folks,
My name is Russ, some of you may recognise the username from other forums, I've been in & out of the hobby multiple times over many many years. I got my first Tamiya back in 1979, the Porsche 936 in my avatar, plus the infamous Acoms Mk1 set, a 6v NiCd & a trickle charger. Built it, ran it, broke it, fixed it, modded it etc etc. I drifted away from RC when cars, girls, guitars etc became my primary interests. Around 1988, one summer Friday afternoon I escaped work early & purely on a whim, treated myself to a brand new Monster Beetle with an Acoms MkiV & all the relevant accessories. I got seriously back into the hobby around 2007 for a few years, building, modding, hosting a couple of meets at Snetterton etc, then drifted away again back to guitars, music & gigs. Now I'm revisiting the hobby once again as I have a little more free time with no current band or musical project, I've pulled my cars & parts out of storage. |

I know Russ from TC's Eastern bashes, he is semi-famous for his seemingly indestructable monster mini, and for sailing a Clod Buster across the lake at Snetterton
Sadly the TC Eastern Bashes are no more (the last one was 15 years ago?), the off road venue (which I thought was common heathland) was boarded off, apparently for housing, and the tarmac track venue was partially dug up when the the model shop it was attached to failed - from the aerial photos the remains of the track appear to be buried under scrap vehicles.

Indeed, we had the pleasure of Jon's company at several EB events.I have great memories of his RC10 Scorcher alternately flying & drowning & then needing rescuing with a rake I believe ?
Sadly time (and money) waits for no man & what was once a legally protected nature conservation area has indeed become housing, even the dusty truck stop car park we also used as a playground is now a Tesco Extra & the greasy spoon which it served is also long gone. I have no info on the demise of Snetterton Model Shop nor the RC circuit, but I have seen the Google Earth images you refer to, such a shame.

I'd forgotten about that, there was just one corner of the roof left visible to show where it had disappeared under the mud I don't know if there's any nostalgia for the B2 model, it must have been the toughest and best handling buggy I've ever owned. Man, I really used to beat on that thing ... IIRC it met its demise when, having completely ripped one front corner off on a fencepost, I was demonstrating how it still handled better than any off the shelf Tamiya kit, when I hit the same fencepost with the other front corner |

I'm in love of the rc10t3 since I saw it in a french magazine ( auto rcm 95 or 96 ) wich showed the models for the french modelism saloon. I never saw nor had one in my hands. But it is still a dream like the dyna blaster. I had exotic traxxas and always issues with this brand. But an asso with its white plastics 🤤🤤🤤
