Hi from Australia,
When i was 8 (1985) many years ago, for christmas i was gifted a Hotshot 58047, played with it almost every day for as long as i can remember, i was recently at my parents house helping them clean out their garage and i come across my old Hotshot, i had an idea that id like to rebuild it, its had a hard life and seem like storage wasn't the best thing for it either. Id love to rebuild it if parts are easily available. Would i like to use it again, possibly but for me it has sentimental value. So i guess, im looking for opinions on whether it's worth rebuilding it to it's former glory It has some issues as you can see in the pictures attached. Attachments:

Hi Aaron, you should definitely restore it. Parts are easy enough to get because Tamiya did a re-release of the HotShot.
Tyres are easy to get. It looks like you need some new front knuckles, possibly new front arms and the bits to support them. Maybe just give the body a clean and leave it as is. A strip down and clean of the chassis I always think is the best bit, plus you’ll then find out exactly what needs fixing or replacing. If you want to run it radio sets are a lot more reasonable to buy these days and maybe a cheap electronic speed controller.

Welcome Aaron,
as friends said a good dismantling and cleaning, check all the spares you need and order them. Tamiya rereleased it and all rere parts fit on the old one. TBH I saved some rc in a worse state.

Thanks for the replies, i started pulling it apart last night, as per pics front arms are buggered, rear arms are the same way. Shell/body is buggered around the area where the lights used to be, if i change the body it will be purely for fitting new lights
I do want to try and keep as much of it original as i can. I will move to a build thread as i get it apart and back together. Thankyou.

First advice for your rebuild, don't put grease in balljoints nor in dogbones. It will destroy them fastly with the dirt.

Tony`s Tamiya Parts is possibly the best site to find all the parts needed from one place.
ttpmodels.com/s...cle%2Cpage Team Blue Groove makes the body and their sister site MCI makes decals if you can`t find the rere ones. They are located in Canada. |
