I've been using Tamiyabase to research projects, download manuals since what feels like forever.. so about time to tell you that I really appreciate what you do! Honestly.. I don't know how active I will be on the forum.. I find that spending time on forums is time I could have been working on one of my many ongoing RC projects.. but who knows what happens this time around..I am an avid collector, restorer of mostly Tamiya cars.. but to me.. if you don't run them.. you are missing out on half the fun.. as a result my projects end up being very nice.. but typically not very 'pure'.. stainless steel hex hardware on a vintage hotshot.. makes perfect sense to me.. and re-re parts are a blessing to vintage racers.. Cuz.. that's the other part of the hobby for me.. I am a racer.. but pretty much race only Tamiya cars.. even if that puts me at a disadvantage before the race even starts.. Do I worry about damaging vintage cars on the track? not really.. they were meant to be used.. and if it gets damaged.. cool.. one more restoration project..

Hi Lord, and thank you for being a TamiyaBase user for.. forever
!
I like your approach to the hobby, as it's braver than mine... I used to collect, but not dare to drive my vintage ones. My remaining collection now resides on a shelf, in restored condition and is likely to remain there. As you probably know, we would like to see pictures of your projects now and then, but I see your point of spending time on restorations instead -Lars Signature now gets correct formatting if you edit it in your Profile. Use normal BBcode if you want.

Welcome on board Lord. I am like Lars. My remaining collection is on a shelf same if I hardly ran a part of it during 80's and late 90's.

Great post, and I’m right there with you on running them rather than just shelving them.
I love seeing clean vintage builds, but I also think these cars were meant to be driven. If something gets scratched or broken, that just becomes part of the car’s story — and like you said, maybe the start of the next restoration project. I also completely understand the “not pure” thing. I respect box-art and period-correct builds, but stainless hardware, practical upgrades, and re-re parts all make sense to me if the goal is to actually enjoy the car on track. Those Ferraris look fantastic, by the way. Really nice pair.
