Mtroniks Sport 20 & Flysky GT3b/GT2 problem 13 years 8 months ago #18757

When I am running this setup: Mtroniks Sport 20 with the 3 channel receiver (gr3c) that comes with the GT3b/GT2, I am having the problem that when going from nill to full throttle (and back) too fast (like pumping the throttle) the ESC goes into failsafe. Dont have this problem with Spektrum or 27Mhz. Anybody who can test this setup?

edit: also tried it with a Capacitor (16v/3300uf) on the third channel

It sounds like a framerate problem. With Spektrum and 27 MHz it's a lot faster response time.

:pinch: thanks, should have thought of that, the FS receiver has that same problem when using it with 3racing LED kits. Wrong framerate :n:

That can be fixed with a quick trip to overkillrc.com. Get the hack kit so you can update the firmware.

I had a GT3b & the servo travels appeared to be much further than with other trannies - it's probably that upsetting the ESC, making it think it's getting a screwy signal. I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that the 4 & 6 channel versions come with software to set rate & travel etc, whereas the 3 channel is factory set & you can't change it.

Had a similar problem with failsafe units used with Traxxas 27MHz 3 channel gear - you had to set the throttle, trim & rate just right, or it used to go into failsafe at full forward or backward. I tried the setup with a normal stick tranny & the problem went away, but I had to adjust the servo linkages for extra rate to compensate

Just remembered another one - LRP AI & some other auto-setup ESCs can get confused by certain transmitters too - eg throttle signal on an Acoms AP427 works back-to-front & there aren't any servo reverse switches. Confuses the ESC & it absolutely refuses to make forward = forward (Ended up having to rewire the gimble to reverse the signal)

Mmm, i already got the hacked firmware (6c) on it, dont think that changes the framerate or does it?

As long as i go slow on the throttle all is fine, forward and reverse both work ok. Problems start when hitting full throttle flat out. Zero to hero B)

I'm thinking Losikid said somewhere The new firmware fixes the frame rate probs. but maybe not. I've never had a fail safe problem with mine using Castle, Hobbywing and Tamiya ESC's

I think it was the travelrate settings, my spektrum dx3c also can set 150% just like the flysky.
If throttle is on 150% failsafe kicks in reduced it to 130% works lot better (both spektrum and FS)
