Hey JR, any progress on the Sand Rover?

I've put some primer on it, still needs a bit of extra filling/sanding where the humps join the body ... not a priority as I think it's going to be at least a couple of months before I can start painting it :) / :(

Looks awesome in primer, any ideas on color? Going box art?

I re-filled & sanded the body last week in the hope I'd get some decent weather ...

Te last couple of days the temperature has just about been in double digits (celcius) and the humidity has been below 80% - that qualifies as "sprayin' weather" in the Retro household :D

Yesterday I put on a couple of coats of Ford "Machine Silver" as an undercoat, and today I've shot 3 coats of Ford "Tango Red" too - it looked a bit brown at first (more like "translucent metallic salmonn" actually) but improved with further coats.

It still needs clearcoating but that'll have to wait - I've puched my luck as far as I dare on this & tomorrow looks a bit iffy on the humidity.

Weather hit 13 celcius & 75% humidity today so I slapped a quick, very heavy coat of clearcoat on it this afternoon ... I seem to have got away with it

I had intended to leave the clearcoat for a week to harden off properly, but I got enthusiastic about finishing it, so, you know ...

Had to "borrow" the wheels off my HB2010 (hence the pink tyre lettering), I'll swap the wheels over once I've painted them & lettered them in white, but for now I'm pretty much done :)

The shell that came in from the cold:

Interior painted:

Detail parts added ... can't say I like the alloy sides that much, so I whipped them off ...

And slapped some carbon fibre on instead:

"California" decal moved down the bonnet to cover a slight flaw in the paint, "Simpson" decal = same duty on the rear:

Jonny, another great build!
Looking at the body, one could mistake it fora an original because of the subtle changes you made.
Excellent finish on the paint!
