Hello friends, I have a little problem about roll cage part J8 at manual step 39, this part (left and right) does have not a screw and apparently remains free.
You can see this in pdf.
Thanks for your opinion

I haven't built one of these myself, but if I'm not mistaken about the pictures on the Internet, I think they will be screwed together with the body panels in the end.

This is what I supposed initially but no body panels or other part fit in, so it's a mistery for me

Yes, but this is the question, why get an element of frame fixed by one side only, in this way it is totally useless.

I'm looking at a PDf of the BBX manual so it's not going to be as clear as a printed manual, but the drawings for steps 41 & 49 (but not the photo under "troubleshooting", later) look to me to show a screw fitted in the offending joint(s) rather than just a hole/recess, though there's nothing to show how they got there.

Could be an accidental omission & there are meant to be screws there, could be a cost saving measure (fractions of a cent on two screws x IDK how many kits = two more nigiri at a fancy sushi restaurant of the chairman at the end of the year ;) ), might be a deliberate decision based on test driving final preproduction cars (force from hit on spare wheel breaking frame?).

No point getting angry at Tamiya, it's not that they don't care, they just think different.

:)

Thanks for reply, fascinating theory about test driving, anyway I put two screws but I avoid to put the spare wheel :-)

I was working on my BBX this weekend and ran into the same observation.  I believe it is simply an accidental omission in the manual because there are an extra pair of 2.6x8mm cap screws in hardware bag D that are exactly what is needed to attach these braces.  I suppose the explanation of a last minute design change is also possible, but these braces make a non-trivial difference to the stiffness of the rear chassis.  I installed the screws.

Yes, finally this is my conlusion. In BBX working I found some others strange things as the placement of antenna tube across the roof impossible to do, points in the upper body to create holes for three supports expected but not used. Also the position of some decals overlapping others. I don't know but this seems to me a too quick design work
