Tamiya Sonic Fighter wheels mod 13 years 9 months ago #17433

Hi has anyone attempted to put after market wheels on there striker/sonic fighter. I just recently restored my sonic fighter but the wheels are no good.

Any suggestions/ideas where i can get good wheel/tires, thanks

I am also after a lower chassis for a striker if anyone is selling one.

Hey, you could always use the Wild One wheels and tyres which fit with no modifications required, and since there is a re-re of the Wild One you can pick a set up quite cheap

rear tyres
front tyres
rear rims
front rims

hope this helps, cheers Andy

edit: have you got any pic's of your rebuild or the car as it sits now ? love to check it out :)
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Hi thanks for the tip about the wheels. I did purchase a 12 mm hex fitting wheels for the rear and used a hex adapter nut to put the fittings together, worked like a charm, however i had to saw of the hex nut as it was way to long.

The wheels are just temporary until i get proper wheels for the sonic fighter.

As you can see its not restored as yet, the bottom chassis was in a right state so i had to improv and figure a way to glue the front bottom chassis bit back together.

Buying the front brace strengthened it more so now i dont have a problem. It would be cool if i can get a bottom chassis from some where if anyone is selling one cheap.

Finally i got the crp parts from team crp, delivered today but had to pay custom charge DAMMIT!!!!

I managed to replace the dog bones. The rest of the kit will hopefully be done of the weekend.

I may go brush-less as i just won a brush-less esc 60amp on ebay. I may go even down to 12 turns, no more lower than that just to see how things go.

For the rest of the car i will need to track down the right spray paint and buy official or repro decal sheets to finish it off.

One more thing i will need to change the front hub to reinforced ones, hopefully they should be delivered sometime next week.

Hi,
Rims are the same of the grasshopper2, rookie rabbit and falcon. And a lot of other I think. For the color, it is the grasshopper2 same color. The Falcon and fighter rx are yellow and the rookie in pink ;)
