ORV XLT Ranger spare parts tribute build. 1 year 1 month ago #81061

Colder weather is approching and the snow plow guide sticks is already in the ground at the main road so it`s time for a new build/project.
Since funds are really low atm and I have a lot of ORV spare parts I think a ORV build is fitting.

And since I have a spare Blackfoot body and I already have a complete Blacfoot, I think it`s time to go for a XLT Ranger tribute build.

I have a lot of ORV spare parts, but I do not have:
2x G1Front arms
2x G5 Front arm stay
C16 transmission plastic piece
ad unsure if I have the 3x8 stepscrews for the uprights.
Also missing springs for the front suspension. At least I`m unable to find the atm.

But I put together the chassis to see what I have before I pull it apart and clean all the parts.
This body is actually the best of the ones I own so this will go on my Blackfoot and the body that currently sits on my Blackfoot will end up on this chassis as that is missing the bottom corner of the body up front where it meets the bumper..

Current status of the chassis

Since I`m missing most of the matal parts for the front suspension I just cobbled together something with help of extra long arms, TLT link mounts and long M2 bolt to hold the uprights from now..

As said I have a lot of spare parts. I have more Monster Beetle parts including chassis rails in a box...

Not sure which wheel tire combo I will use. I do have spare Brat wheels and tires. Just want a bit more custom for this.
Also have a new set of rear Frog wheels and Hornet tires, but I think they will go on my Hornet..
My friend with a 3d printer has printed the Ampro body mounts for this conversion as Blacfoot ones are too long to be used.
Since I can only fint the rod bag NIB and the C parts tree new in stock here in Norway I might end up printing the Ampro front suspension for this.
I also might paint the chassis, not really sure what color yet. Will deffo NOT be Frog color as I dislike the beige stock color on those raiils..

I`m out of shalf space so I really don`t need another project. But I do like building things from spare parts

I love the lower body. I have to see in my frog for sale box because I  have several spares inside. And not already online .

Over the weekend I cleaned my spare ORV matal and plastic parts.
Still have more bits in a box somewhere.

Big thanks to Sandox I got front springs and the plastic part for the transmission.
Wasted no time to install the bits.

The plastic part needs work, but much better than nothing!

Standing for the first time on its own

And since I have a lot of MB/BF front suspension I installed that.
To be able to use Hornet front wheels I had to space out with 1x1150 + 1x850 bushing and 850 bushing on the outside to clear the suspension bits.
Front track is 3mm narrower front each side than rear

How I like it to sit once finished

Sine last time all the chassis has been in bits and cleaned.
I also picked up the Ampro rear body mounts that a mate printed for me.

These are printed in ABS. I will give them a aceton vapor bath to get them stronger.

For the front I used assorted parts I had in my parts bin. No idea for what.

Now with the body I plan on using for this project.

I have also found a set of NIB vintage tires online, I will use for this project.
Just need some funds.
Will also order Alloy Brat wheel covers, so I will stick to stock Brat 1.7" sized tires.
Just a tad more scale.

The MB/BF front suspension actually work for this project so I will keep it for now.

Still no idea for paint, but my brain is working on it.
Something that is not done before...

I vote for a boxart paint or the royal blue from tamiya.  With a mci decals set.
