58051 Fox Resto 14 years 2 months ago #11921

Another eBay purchase from the same seller as the Frog, this time a Fox... it was listed as "RC car spares" rather than a car, so I'm not so hopeful it will be rebuildable, I guess I'll have to wait for it to arrive.

In the meantime, these are the pics from the eBay listing:

Nice score! I really like the Fox as a model, it's def on my "wanttoget" list also :)
Looks do-able, i see no major parts broken except rear susp. Body looks to be in good condition also!
Nice B)

I think there's also a cheap digital watch (minus strap) in there too

You may be in luck - I haven't done the maths recently, but the last time I did, there was a 60+ % chance of any vintage Tamiya I bought being re-released within weeks of me completing a restoration

I appear to have missed something - wasn;t the idea to sell some, not buy more?
Dunno what you're worried about with the Fox, looks complete or do you think some well thought out arrangement of bits to look like it is?
I'll have a go if you don't fancy it! - always wanted a Fox when they came out but "those who are wise" were always putting me off & I ended up with my Wild One instead. Good looking car I think, I preferred it to anything else that was about at the time (Except maybe Marui Hunter)

Id appreciate a full rebuild thread on this as its one of the cars you dont see that often for some reason, id be interested to see it put together.

No plan survives contact with the enemy ... "the enemy" being the overactive "bargain!" centre in my brain, and, well, you know my eBay search parameters  ;)

It's arrived ... the screwdriver didn't make it in to the parcel :(

First impressions are that I may be able to build something out of this , even if it won't be particularly pretty or boxart. All four front wishbones are toast, but there are four new ones in the pile :) A bigger problem is the rear lower wishbones, I can't see it being easy to get a set of R parts at all, let alone cheaply... I'm maybe something from the Hotshot family might be vaguely suitable, if not I guess I'll have to carve a pair from solid :S

Stripdown/pictures will have to wait, the bench is covered with Mondeo & Monster Beetle parts ATM

One question though ... how did someone manage to rip all 4 corners off a car, without (comparatively) damaging the body?
