Hi
I'm new to this rc car world and have just acquired an original tamiya king blackfoot. I'm pleased with the purchase other than it is currently unusable. When I connect the battery on the car the wheels spin uncontrollably, regardless of what I do with the on off switch or with the controller. The controller will turn the front wheels, and will temporarily make the rear wheels spin the opposite way, before they revert to the usual spinning in reverse until the battery runs flat. Can anyone help me sort this problem please? |

Welcome on board
I'm guessing your truck has a mechanical speed control (MSC), in general I'd suggest you replace that with an electronic one, but in the mean time ... Disconnect one of the wires going to the motor, that way you'll be able to adjust things without the truck trying to run away. The trim tab (next to the left stick on the transmitter should be in the middle, and the starting point for the MSC should be right in the middle, and the servo next to it should be parallel with that, yo might have to remove & replace the horn (control arm) on the servo to do that. If that's not clear, post a photo of the electrics/electronics inside the truck so one of us can annotate it |

Thank you!
I think the truck has an electronic speed controller (acoms ar 201), I don't know if this is any good or how much better a modern one would be. Thanks for the brilliant advice, I will try to do what you said and see what happens! It's very frustrating, waited 25 years to get one of these and then when I do it doesn't work!! |
