A while ago I purchased a Boomerang from Flo.
Yesterday I fitted new wheels and tires for now. First part task is to see if I can restore the wheels. Tires is hard as solid plastic so they was no hope for Tires was easy to remove, cut a knob of and cut across tire with a flush side cutter and then peeled like a orange. After 24 hours in grafitti remover, 99% of the paint was gone. I did scrub them several times with cotton sticks during that time. Only one outer ring was good enough to keep so I decided to sand them off. What a mess! My el chipo lathe lol! Also did the backside. The outher ring was good enough to keep. That is how far I managed today. |

Forgot I had a thread on this...
As you may have seen I have done a few snowruns with this the last few days. Today I wanted another run before the snow turns to slush. Was -10C today so both my body and the Boomerang was not happy due to the coldness. Yesterdays -7 felt warm compared to this.. But the car was nearly dead at 7-8min mark, should go for 30min easy. I had two suspects. First the on/off switch which was very easy to slide, like no snap stops. Suspected due to this there was a consumption loss, so I swapped it out for another one. My next suspect was the vintage Kyosho K-Speed 21T motor I recently installed. And there it was! Brushes was nearly completely gone! Here is the motor Cleaned and installed a set of these. My lipo alarm says 7.80V still left and now the motor works good again. I will also order some bearings for the motor. If you missed it, here is the driving video.
