Good day to all. I recently bought a vintage bruiser in great shape and with all original receiver and three working servos I just bought a vintage stick transmitter and everything seems to work. Problem is that even the gears don’t enter correctly and to go forward I have to push downwards the stick. Only thing working well is the steering
all Servos work and transmitter connects with receiver but these are all old parts!
my question is if anyone can help with this problem or is it possible to transform  all the electronics to 2.4g and if so can anyone suggest which kit to buy or what to do because I’m stuck!

thanks a lot

Matt

You might want to move to 2.4ghz gear if you plan to run it a lot with others, but you really need to make it all work with what you've got first ...

Does the gearbox work correctly without RC gear? i.e. if you disconnect the motor and run it off a single 1.5v "D" cell & work the shift rod, do the gears / 4WD engage as expected?

Are you sure the transmitter matches the reciever? It's very rare to find a 2-stick, 2-channel 27mhz TX that won't work with any 2-channel 27mhz RX, provided the crystals are correct, but once you get on to 3 and 4 channel sets, especially if you start mixing brands, then the implementations of what does what, and in what way can vary wildly.

The further back you go in time the less well servo reversing was implemented, a truck from 1985 might have had the latest RC gear with servo reversing switches, or it might have been crudely implemented & you'd have to unscrew the whole gimbal on the TX and rotate it 180 degrees. Or it might not have been implemented at all - in which case you'd have to swap the motor wires over. The Acoms AP-427 set was a popular choice in the UK for 3-speed trucks for some time, that got round the problem by having 2 servos that operated normally and one that operated in the reverese direction.

We really need photos of the gear you're using, or at least brands and part numbers to help :)

Thank you very much!
I’ve tried everything even inverting the engine wires and using a charged battery but problems persist plus im on 47mhz, crystals are correct but still it’s faulty as I described. When I try and insert the gears they seem to get stuck. I don’t know honestly also I’ll be back home in a couple of weeks so I can send pictures but it runs with I think one of the first vintage esc’s ever…
when I get back I’ll send pics of the whole set up.
thanks again for everything

You have to swap both motor wires and flip the rev/nor switch for the throttle channel.
Might need to center the throttle slider afterwards..
