I had thought about building a Barkas B1000 at some point, even going as far as getting a cheap diecast version for inspiration, though I hadn't thought about exactly what chassis to use.
I'd written it off as being a bit too curvy for my skill level (although it wouldn't be pushing things too far, it's only rounded edges and corners, not 3 dimensional swoopiness), but mostly not of being of sufficient interest to put it ahead of things on my unfinished, unstarted, and would like to do lists. However, looking at the 1:1 wheelbase of 2400mm, track of 1450mm (F)/1460mm (R) and it's overall width of 1860mm, it would require very little tweaking for 1:10 scale on a SWB CC-01. The real thing being RWD with small (13 or 14 inch) wheels is not necessarily a problem, either I call it an upgrade & use regular CC-01 sizw wheels, or put touring car size wheels on it, as on my RV. I wouldn't feel any guilt about it either way - IDK what proportion of Tamiya's RC "real" car output is on inappropriate or just plain wrong chassis, but I bet it's a lot

A L version of some M chassis, narrowed suspension arms and skinny tires would fit the bill best I think..
L version is 239wb.. Someone over at Tamiyaclub made skinny wheels/tires for the beetle and 2CV. Mayby those would do? No idea if he has released the files yet.

Finally got around to filling the gap on the lengthened chassis, underside detail is pointless but I'd know if it wasn't there
Perforating the top brace was not worth the hassle, it's not the correct material (but the chassis is plenty stiff regardless) - I just don't think it looks right. Will remake in FRP with a less fussy design. Attachments: |

Cobi 1:35 B1000 pickup, with some very optimistic smoothing going on for the box "photo" - it's basically Lego copy with some of their own specialised parts. Nice tampo printing though Chinese made B1000 van is 1:64 scale or thereabouts, the diecast body is a bit on the thin side & the chassis is plastic. I have so much more that I want to do before this though. Attachments:
