I have it now. The ultimate charger.

.. only now I have no batteries to charge! It's raining outside and I haven't been out driving, so I cannot test my new charger. It will have to wait untill it's dry out.

I think I will panic now... I cannot remember if I fully charged my 2100 mah nimh battery last night.

Can I try to charge it anyway, will the charger tell me if the battery is charged/ not charged? Or will I damage the battery by charging it twice?

Ok, delta peak. So can I charge it again and again without damaging the battery?

Not to be stingy, but I do like to spend as little as possible, getting as good stuff possible out of my deals. I figured that since batteries consists of cells, and built in a fairly simple way, I could buy the cells and put them together myself. Why not?

The other night...
I got some 6000 mah Nimh cells from ebay, china ofcourse. Measuring them each cell was about 1,2 V which is the way we like it here.

Placing them in rows of three will give us 3,6V.

A slightly overheated tip will allow for a smooth hit-and-run that won't heat up the complete cell.

Times two, we now have 7,2V total.

Now let's wrap the whole thing together.

.. and some proper wires ..

Bingo!

with the appropriate crimping tool. nice work! did you solder them after crimping?
that good cells or the cheap junk? any experience with them?
i would like to see the charge results of you batterypack / charger

Today is + - 20 degrees here in Netherlands and I head off back home fit my newly purchased battery pack in my scaler while enjoying a bottle of beer.
it is a 12v 4600 mah battery pack which I convert into two 3.6V batteries in series because nothing else fits my car
I've found the right shrink film which I'm already ordered
I will later show you some pictures

Check. Now hook it up the charcher, chill look around drink beer and wait for the mailman who bring in my shrinkfoil.

I didn't solder any crimp connections as my Weidmuller does a perfect job. I used wires from charger leads I know I will never use, and I bought Tamiya original connectors with pins on ebay.

"i would like to see the charge results of you batterypack / charger"
- No you wouldn't . Fact is I binned the pack after a few attempts, the cells are total crap. The battery pack would have worked well if cells had been of good quality. But the chinese are very tricky. My quality work soldering and taping the pack together using good thick wires and Tamiya's crimp connections didn't stand a chance, even though it looked great (thanks Sting!).

The power pack worked for 5 happy minutes! Then charging it with my Team Orion Touch Duo super-charger took about 2 minutes, indicating a fully charged battery, although ofcourse it wasn't. I attempted a few cycles charging / discharging my pack, but the chinese beat me again. Never mind, I've tried it and it didn't work. I'll be buying expensive power-packs from Hobbyking in the future.

You've got some handsome packs there, Poebe.
