And now there is confusion..... 12 years 3 days ago #31793

Maybe I can ask Japanese friend what the 'real' text says.

This came with my Rough Rider that I bought in the 80s. The axle mount that came with the kit was the one with the screws just like the instruction leaflet indicated. The kit came with that grey beige bumper not the black one and solid section where the rear cage bolts to.
The lower left corner on the manual has a number 8002. Could be the manufacture date.

That is spooky ... and suggests a few possibilities:

1 - it's a wind up

2 - it's a mistake: the translator got it bass-ackwards

3 - things are as we think, but Tamiya found a big box of parts after they'd changed (or someone ordered the wrong type) and rather than recycle them, well they didn't exactly lie to their customers, but they did take the liberty of BSing them a little

4 - everything we know is wrong!

Interesting find - but without corroborating evidence I don't think it's enough to reverse received wisdom.

:)

So now that we have two sources for this addendum and the actual parts in those kits, we can exclude option 1 and 2. That leaves us with 3 & 4......

Now a completely different question.....

While "investigating" this anomaly I realised I was missing a good scan of the Sand Scorcher (mk2) manual. I know I have a couple of original SS manuals somewhere, but they have been AWOL for years now, together with a lot of other manuals, catalogs and guide books... They're probably at the bottom of a box, somewhere...

So if anyone have a good SS mk2 scan, please PM me....

(Lars, I hope it is OK to ask this, as I DO have the original manual(s) somwhere)

Thanks, but I have that one. I need a higher resolution scan.
