No fighting here. Mostly agreeing actually. ;)

But I am concerned that the old Acoms receiver might have the polarity reversed.
Anybody that has a receiver like this and has hooked it up to newer electronics?
It would be an Acoms ARC-227...

I wish I did a Google search on the old Futaba receiver before I melted a brand new servo...

That wasn't a Futaba but a (very) old Acoms!

...

JR (plug) should fit vintage Acoms right? Though maybe loosely.

I was pretty sure the "C" model Acoms RX has normal sockets & wire layout - even if they are on leads rather than in the body of the RX - I went hunting & found some info at studio68.no/rc/...sp?id=6200 which seems to confirm that - I guess the "C" model RX is a halfway house between old skool Acoms RXs (proprietory plugs & pinout/wire order) & "modern" RXs (pins on board the RX in a standardised layout, with BEC).

Great info in that link. I'm sure we can rely on that. :)

I think I had a Mk1 myself so there was some reason for doubt...
Peace of mind now though!

No worries, the ESC will work for sure. :cheer:
I was just checking if there were (small) adaptations needed but they should be next to none.

it seems to work ok but forwards is very "abrupt", whereas backwards is almost sluggish to operate, takes a bit of getting used to i guess

That was fast delivery! But it should actually run a lot smoother...
Please remember to turn on your transmitter first and check if the trim settings are neutral at the start.

i made sure i did all that on initial start. i think maybe it has something to do with reverse being brake? maybe?.
if i go forward then slam it in reverse it stops then starts going backwards, whereas before if i did the same it would go in reverse straight away, wheel spinning as it went.
probably good to stop ruining the gears i suppose
