My plan is to build a tribute build of my father Beetle he had when I was a kid.
As you can see my father liked to thinker with his cars and make them personal. Now that I got the MF01X Beetle, I have a base of the build. I have set the suspension to high setting pr now I left some of the part below the body as base of the front spoiler Some of the details I have to work out # Hella lights. Easy, I already got those. # Yellow fog lights. Have found some on ebay with similar shape, but they are a tad too big. Might make my own. # Antenna. Need to find one that is similar in size and with windings at the base. # Rear window louvre. Might make on myself as I don't think the one intended for SS and MB will fit. # High mounted brake lights with feet. May have to make them I think. # Find the best matching colors. This is the hard bit. # Zoom exhaust. This I have to make. # 68-72" bumpers. Have to make these. # Headlights. I might fit Monster Beetle ones as I don't like the look of the chrome glass that comes with the kit. # Tail lights. I might fit Monster Beetle ones as they are correct for 68 as my dads car. The moulded ones on the body is 67' and earlier. One thing I don't want to fit is the "sport mirrors". I like the orginal ones better. I bet my dad could not find good stock ones for a fair cost, so he fitted those sport mirrors. For wheels, I will probably go with these steelies from Boom Racing which are narrow 1.55" |

Another beautifull project Richard. For the antenna, you maybe could modify a scorcher one with the spring base. I'm not sure with the size of the mb headlights on the beetle body they'll be too big. Why don't use the original lights with center remived and with eyes lances boxes or bilster ? And you keep the stickers to have the light windows texture.

Thank you Flo!
Good call on the SS antenna! I forgot that one. I think I have a spare MB headlight so I will check size compared to the one for the lexan. I don't think there is much difference. I could be wrong lol

I have ordered the first part for this build.
The yellow fog lights or just simply driving lights on my dads beetle I belive is Talmu ones, and I think they are 14cm ones or thereabout. Sadly there is no 14mm yellow fog lamps for rc on the market, but I've found these 17mm ones that is the closest I could get. Time will tell if they seems ok scale wise. Colors will be hard. The main body is Zenith blue, PS-32 Corsa Gray seems to be the closest match on the color chart. I will have to try with some paint samples to find out if it is close enough. Wings is the harder to match as colors tend to be more blue or way less. PS-49 Sky Blue Anodized Aluminium would have worked if it was not for the metal look to it. PS-3 Light Blue with different color backing might work, or.. PS-39 Translucent Light Blue with backing color. I guess most of the project money will go to get the colors right lol. I will start with PS-32 and PS-3 and go from there I think..

Flo, I just checked the MB vs M02 etc headlights and there was minimal difference between them.
The glass is the exact diameter on both. Difference is the bezel as on MB the headlight sits on a curved and sloped surface so the bezel has to be thicker in the outside end. On the MF02X/M02 the bezel is thinner and sits more on a level surface. Here is a picture of what I found out if anyone wondering. That said I will use the glass from MB and hollow out this kit headlights so it will fit. Functtional lights is a must on my cars!

Oh Richard, I am too happy that the headlights are so similar. I can't wait to see the body.
