I remember having asked one with a body unpainted why the body looked like painted and paint removed and why he did not paint it back. There was all the stickers on the body...

He told me "you see this ***ing magnets?... They did not stick on the paint and it was even worse, they removed the paint... And then decided to glue the magnet on to be able to run that day... I removed the paint but was not able to remove those ***ing sticky magnets from the body. At the end I decided to keep the body this way. That gives it a style"

That was an approach :)
I buy kits to built and ru(i)n them :-)

Turned the back off the wheels:

Tried XF-24 RLM Grey (or Reichsluftfahrtministerium (German Ministry of Air, 1933-45) Grau) at first as the cap colour looked a good compromise between the colours on the body, but it dried looking very green. this is XF-24 Dark Grey instead:

IDK why some paints look different depending on whether they're brushed on or airbrushed, but they do:

While I was doing the number plates, I also cut of a number of circles to diminish the magnetic attraction of the body mounts, I used two each side of each post, but i'm thinking I could double up to 32 in total.

I need to clear the decks to get some proper photos, but it's basically done. I'd never have a grey car IRL, but I like how this has come out :)

Maybe you could make  an oval sticker with GB to mask the paint mark of the body post.

Then I'd have to change the number plates ;) :)
