And on the way in the mail I have:

9465665 Frog screw bag D (I'm missing the shoulder bolts for the Frog uprights to have a complete Frog suspension.
53255 60D hard inner sponge - Only item that is missing to glue the front tires.
51393 F parts M-05 Uprights - one of my C-hubs are bad and I don`t have a spare one. This set was the cheapest in stock and the uprights are perfect as the steering linkage location is high up like on a Frog upright, which means I don`t need much of spacer to have the steering linkage like today.

One thing I would like to have is M chassis arms with more clearance between inner screwpin hole and the material in the middle as the current M05 arms rub a bit on the chassis bracket.

Beside that I think I have all the parts now to make it complete and ready to run.

As always when I build custom stuff my mancave gets really messy, I had to clean up after this as I things got lost and hidden..
I guess it happens to a few of us...

I made a diffuser out of the rear spoiler from the last year speedrun body.

Used a bunch of HR M3 links, spacers, set screws, o-rings and bolts.

And body is finally painted.
PS-5 Black gt stripes and PS20 Fluor red.

Think I will be able to see this
3mm COB ledstip as I used on my snowblower.

I also fitted the same COB ledstrip at rear.
Here I covered the vertical bit with aluminium foil tape and then fitted the ledstrip at the upper edge.
The lower part of the Zakspeed wing has a void in it and it was perfect to hide that ledstrip.
I painted the wing part with PS37 Tranclucent red to make the light red. Used about 8 thin coats.

I have left the rest of the sticker job.
Fit a JST (BEC) plug for the lights.
Fill the gearbox with oil.
Grease the hex driveshafts.
Fit new C-hubs and uprights.

Before the weekend I got the hard inner foams for the 60D tires and this weekend I glued the tires.
I also belted the rear tires with two rounds with electrical tape in hope the will not explode at speed.
Tried with duct tape, but tires got low spots and got un-round so the idea was scrapped.

Should be driveable late this week or at the weekend.

Haha! When I trip over nearly everything and I can't find stuff on my bench. it's time to tidy up.
Problem I'm out of space. Really should have more of the sortment cabinets (have 4 now) and more shelf space.
Ah well, hope I get my own place in near future. Bigger mancave is high on my list!!!

I fitted this sticker yesterday

Today I finished the sticker job. Have used nearly all of my black/white sticker and didn't want a clown color chart.

And my channel member club stickers from Poor Boys RC arrived today.
Ofcourse I had to fit the offical SRC sticker!

Fitted Traxxas 44mm turnbuckles today.
Used Traxxas #1942 rod ends at the wheel side. I like these as they have no slop and can handle great angles.

Replaced the old C-hubs and fitted new M05 ones. The new uprights are also M05 and these are great as they have a high mount for the steering link so no spacers are needed.
Together with TA04 king pins (same as TLT-1 and many others) they move very free even without lubrication.

Steering linkage is as straight as I can get it.
There is a slight toe-out and it should be about zero when at speed and suspension has compressed a bit.

Still has to do:

Charge the gps unit.
Download the gps app and test it and make sure it works.
Download app for the action camera and sign the agreement.
Fill the gearbox with oil.
Grease the hex driveshafts with dry lube.

And today I ordered some bits from Tamico.
# New dogbones in case one of the new pair I gets lost during a speedrun. (9808038)
# New wheelaxles. Speedrun contenders has reported broken wheelaxles left and right (9808039)
# New trailing arm stoppers (9808040)
# Xtra Speed G45 cvd axles in case the wheelaxles break.
# T3-01 Front wheels x2 in case I need to swap to stock Frog front suspension.
# T3-01 Knobby front tires.
# 2x C parts tree so I can build two more transmissions.
# B parts, the white bearing holders.
# Frog front tires for my Hornet
# Frog front wheels for my Hornet

Think that is all I need to get this going and have replacements if anything goes south.
Probably do the first test run on Saturday.
For future ref I need to have done my new PB video, uploaded and email'd before 6PM Oslo time, every Saturday in July. Aka 11AM PDT as the chap is in Canada and need to review the videos before the scoreboards on Sunday.
There is about 200 contestant this year so numbers are up from previous years.
And there is about 7 grand worth of prices. Lots of goodies!

First test was done today.
For the ones who wonder, the vintage hex driveshafts work at least to 55mph!!

Drove an hour to a 1.6mile straight road. There is actually a slightest bend in the middle so I used the first half section.

I managed 55mph during the test.
Sadly I applied too much throttle too soon, spun out on roof and slid into the ditch.
In the process it lost one of the driveshafts and the 49t spur is gone.

So next task is to rebuild my second transmission with either standard gearing 50/18 or use the Blackfoot gearing 52/16.
Anyhow I have to take apart my second transmission as it has too much drag. I fitted one Traxxas #1985 shim which is 0.5mm thick and on that it turns out is too much.
I hope still have some 5mm shims somewhere.
Also the spur needs shimming as there is almost 1mm of slack in and out. One of the clueprints why the speedrunners have found out is a weak point.
But vintage hex driveshafts seems to work fine

Great first run Richard. I doubt anyone in Japan back in the day ever dreamt of getting 55mph out of that chssis. LOL

Great first run Richard. I doubt anyone in Japan back in the day ever dreamt of getting 55mph out of that chssis. LOL

I doubt it also lol. Maybe a hot brushed motor, but that's all!

Opened up the gearbox and as I thought, the spur was completly gone!
Diff and the brass gear was perfect tho'

After one of the driveshafts got lost yesterday, I bought a box with different size heat shrink, one of the colors were bright yellow.
One of the sizes fitted perfectly! Was very snug to get over.
Unless driveshafts is now thrown 30 yards into the forrest, I should be able to see these!

Best part was the box those heat shrink came in was damaged so I got them for half price!

Transmission is now rebuilt using the "normal" Frog gearing, aka 50t spur which uses 18t pinion.
Used Traxxas #3948 18t steel pinion on Hornet last year so I'm ready for a new test as soon I got the gearbox installed.
Speaking of gearbox.
There was a lot of slope.
Used 1.2mm of shims in total on the spur and 0.2mm of shims on the diff. 0.3 would be perfect on the diff but I have just 0.2, 0.4 and 0.5 shims left...
This time I will not fill the gearbox with oil as it got real messy yesterday as it would leak and oil got everywhere. Not good when handling camera and phone.
Will test with dry lube to see if that works.

Still need to rebuild my second transmission as it's to tight at the moment. (With Blackfoot gears)
So I can swap out in case the current one fails.
I did bring with me the second transmission yesterday, but it's too tight and will make it hard for the motor and I was out of steam...

Remove all teeth and you eat soup.... that's crazy that you ran to 55mph with a old transmission..... maybe a full metal gears with anti wear grease?  And no diff.

Aw grease will cause too much drag and slow the car down.
I have applied AW grease to the small spider gears and the planet gear that sticks through diff and the pin that goes from left cup to right cup. This has made the diff nearly locked up like a LSD diff so the diff action is not the problem.
Only gearset available is the Blackfoot gearing and the shipping time and cost as it comes from USA is a no goer.
Blackfoot gearing will also just let it go 90mph at max if the motor will wind out all the way at 102600rpm.
Last year my Hornet 67.4mph run only had 73000rpm and 73000 rpm with Blackfoot gearing is estimated to 63.5mph.
Way too slow for what I want! I want at least near 100mph by the end of it.

Running 69mm rear tires now and I don't want to jack up the car to fit 85mm hoons tires. Bigger tire should give higher topspeed as long as the motor has the power to drive the tires.
Since my motor is a 360 size rotor inside a 540 can, it will never have the power of a real 540 motor, like a 3.5 turn.
On top of this I have no money left so I need to run with what I have.
Already spent 700+ euro so far over the last two months...

Oh btw, the transmission had nib vintage gears, rere sideplates and rere housing.
Only old in that transmission is the hex driveshafts, the spacer tubes and the bolts.
With the new gearing I fitted today 50t spur 18t pinion the estimate topspeed at 9000kv is 113mph
Realistic topspeed will be around 90mph is my guess with current gearing.
Should really get another set of high speed gearing.. To bad nobody makes metal gears for the 3 Frog gearsets, only for Blackfoot..

My second transmission is built with all vintage stuff tho.
