Thanks - and it's okay, you can say Axial! They make nice stuff and I see them rather as a brand that makes the RC horizon broader than as a competitor of Tamiya. I won't be needing other hexes for this car (they turned out nicely after all) but that doesn't mean I'm not interested. They are the narrow type, right? I would prefer to put these on any upcoming build. Even over GPM I think... The car I'm building right now will have to get a new owner so I can finish the other two. And send some monetary compensation to Hoggy for his F103 as well... But I will need to get some different tyres for it. The ones I had in mind fit the rims okay but don't look big enough on the car. I don't want to put the used tyres on it. The fact that I will sell it, doesn't mean I'm gonna cut corners. It's a bit of a shame though 'cause I'm really starting to like how it looks and it should run very nicely. I would shelf it myself if I were gonna keep it. Luckily I got two to go... and they're coming close to be ready too. |

Oh my, a spare part that is cooler than a hop up! Apart from the latter being an adjuter.
I stumbled upon these adjusters at Banzai hobby and decided to give them a try. The reinforced bit was appealing and also the fact that they have the Tamiya logo on them. Not knowing that they are for a much cooler chassis than the ones for a TA04 that I had been using so far : Definitely switching to these for the other two DF-01s. |

Eddrick, you won't believe it - the gear set arrived today!
Only took about six weeks across that bit of water... But the timing is quite perfect after all. I'll soon have the current chassis finished and the gears are for the car that's next in line. Thanks! |

Only real option then - a new set of originals : Tyres make or break the look of a car if you ask me... I've put on some hexes that were still on the sprue tree but I should be able to make the aluminium ones work soon. Bumper's had a bit of paint too. All that's left to do on this one is some finishing touches on the body. And yes - I will have really finished the first car of the thread then! |

Unfortunately I can't get the hexes tightened - not even with the new M2 (longer) screws I received today. Unless I'd tap a bigger thread in them but that is too much of a stretch... So I've put them on as is, which is still an upgrade compared to the standard plastic parts. Just gotta take care not to lose the pins when the wheels are taken off... |

They're the Racing Punk parts - and I indeed tried to clear the thread on the side where the screw goes in.
It's gotta be able to turn freely there, which is not the case if they've tapped through and through... Only to find out that I can't get the screw to grip on the side that's supposed to be threaded. Sticking with Axials from now on... |

First build's finished! After putting the final details on the body.
It's just too bad my camera isn't cooperating anymore... So for now I just have this picture : - Fiber glass reinforced custom body and wing - Black and gunmetal anodised aluminium shock towers - Adjustable aluminium shocks - Full set of ball bearings - Complete set of new tyres - GPM silver aluminium motor mount - Top Force hardened main drive shaft - Top Force Evo suspension arms - Adjustable camber with low friction adjusters - Aluminium wheel hexes - Black steering knuckles This is for the most the car I started this thread with - merged with a hopped up lot from the UK. Combined with new parts like the tyres, shocks, suspension arms and motor mount. Leaving me with two other cars that came from this quest... First a fast rebuild of the "TA01/TA02 DF-01" with Hummer body and then the final details on the FRP chassis. I now realize both these cars are built from scratch as a consequence of acquiring this first chassis. |

This car's up for sale btw, guys. I'll offer a good deal if anyone here's interested.
Not gonna start a separate topic for it - and it's not on the Bay. For now anyway. One of the gearboxes and a set of suspension arms weren't new parts though. |
