More primer, not drying very fast as TBH it was getting too late in the day and a bit too cool…
Face painted (and started on the rest of the visible skin) – also been joined by a second figure. This one looks to based on eBay UK member abit ofwotufancy’s ( www.ebay.co.uk/...fwotufancy ) free enterprise resin figure with fixed “No sir, I don’t like it” pose and no way of grasping even a Tamiya box spanner (see tamiyabase.com/...?start=150 - I’m not a great painter, and I found finishing what looks like a boiler suit in “boxart” colours a bit bland). Again, the AI reworking has resulted in changes (helmet angle, no fireproof balaclava, wrinklier suit) but the figure is much simpler overall. The initial print was the same 175mm as above – again, way taller than the original, but I requested one with a more “accurate” height of 157mm. I’ve only got as far as finishing the prep, priming and face painting as I have other things I want to be getting of with (and I need some inspiration for clothing schemes, I’m thinking a Stunt Car Racer uniform for the hands on hips figure but I’m drawing a blank on the oversize Jack type as “Lord Humungos” won’t really work That didn’t stop me asking how much i could get the “Soldier”, “Daisy Duke” and “Big Cleetus” figures for though – the answer was so low I couldn’t really say no The latter two look to be wholly original and not really based on anything in particular (other than Dukes of Hazzard characters), and as such there’s nothing to directly compare them to and spot faults – though it does look like Uncle Jessie’s sorry “Big Cleetus”’s dungarees are having a bit of a existential crisis and might prefer to be jeans. The bib and shirt are also having a bit of an argument about who ought to be on the outside – but that can be fixed with a bit of sanding an painting. The soldier on the other hand is a bit more experimental, and looks to me to be a blend of countries, eras and ranks. I mean it’s all basically “Army” and _mostly_ WWII or soon after, and choice of paint colours will identify him one way or other to the casual observer, but to me that jacket and belt is _very_ WWII German infantry when it “ought” to Korean War era US. I can soften the points and some of the details, but I don’t think there’s much to be done about those pouches On the right hand though, he has two thumbs, so I’ll have to remove one. Overall, I think these are going to be fun to paint, and I’m glad someone is having a go at making figures for RC dioramas. They do have some flaws, but I think it would be a shame if they weren’t available in the future. Attachments:

If you need some picts of an original korea era uniform I have a fully one. Same if a lot of bags pouches and micelaneous are directly the same of ww2 ones. Most of things are olive drab or og106 og107 green.

Made some progress on some of these - yellow Hawaiian shirt on the eBay Willy Moto driver was nine or more colours, didn't feel like doing any as much on the red for the Jumbo figure so just used very thinned white ... obviously it would have been better if I had much greater control of even that very fine brush, but at arms length the concept works
Doing a third figure at the same time felt like too much so only today when I was airbrushing Jumbo's head did it get any attention, both need significant curing time before further masking & additional colours. And speaking of masking, both those helmets have a sticky out "rubber" seal area so were a bit more of a faff that normal, I started with Tamiya 2mm and 3mm plastic tape, followed up with regular 6mm and 10mm & some work with a scalpel, I'll be able to do it quicker next time I think Attachments:

Can't remember if I mentioned the goggles from the 2nd Moto Willy, although they'd been printed with a clear material they were almost opaque.
I Dremmeled out all of the lens, applied filler, sanded, primed, sanded, painted black, then used canopy glue to fix on a bit of acetate sheet. After trimming that back, stitching on a strap of 5mm woven elastic and painting the outer edge, they're presentable enough, but don't fit that well so may end up dangling around his neck. ] Attachments: |

The beginnings of autumn made me think about getting the remaining three figures ready for painting over the colder season, generic soldier needed a thumb removing and the hole(s) filling with Milliput, Uncle Jessie got some of the ambiguous jean/dungaree/shirt details removed and the beer glass (?) base/insides reworking with styrene tube, sheet and Milliput, I will paint as a ceramic stein.
Daisy Duke didn't need any rework but got a plinth to stand on & a hit with grey plastic primer, same as the other two Attachments:
