Hello all...
Just a question about ESCs. I have never dealt with these before. My recently resored Striker has always had the original MSC. The problem with it is, when I get the car up to full throttle, it cuts out and stops. I have a pretty basic Techniplus Acoms AP-275mkII controller. I always remember the car having this problem when getting up to full throttle. I just went out and bought a Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 ESC from a near by hobby store. I installed it and it works. But there is quit the difference in speed .I have the Striker up on a block to test. When I had the MSC up to full speed, I could tell that the wheels were spinng alot faster and the motor was reving much more than when I hooked up the ESC. I feel like Im gonna loose a lot of speed and power using the ESC. WHich is what I don't want. The good thing about it is the motor doesn't cut out when I get the stick on the controller up at full throw like when using the MSC. Is this normal for an ESC to make the motor run slower? |

Okay I just had a look at this ESC & in the manual it has the how to for setting the throttle range
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

Thanks for the reply. I did notice the "set throttle range" in the instructions. It's just not making sense to me. It's telling me to adjust things like D/R, EPA, ATL etc. And it says to adjust a knob to it's limit on my transmitter. My controller looks very basic with no knobs or LCD displays. Just 2 sticks and trim controls beside either stick. I can't figure this step out. |

The knobs it's referring too are the trims on your stick control, D/R = drive & reverse . EPA = end point adjustment . ATL = adjustable throttle limiter. your controller wont have the EPA & ATL If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

Okay. All the instructions are saying is to just turn on my controller, then turn on the speed controller. It will beep and that's it. I have done that but im still not getting as much speed as the MSC. I thought when calibratiung the ESC you have to move the throttle sticks to full posistion while calibrating. It doesn't say anything about that. Maybe this ESC just doesn't supply as much juice to the motor as the MSC. |

Right I just downloaded the manual for your esc, 1 thing I noted is that you can choose the battery type Lipo or NiMH & it is set default to Lipo. Which type of battery are you running ?

7.2v NiMH |

So you need to change the position of the jumper from Lipo to NiMH, also I see if the battery is below 4.5v the esc will limit the output power to half & if it falls below 4v it will cut power completely. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate

Okay thanks. The ESC came with the jumper in NiMH mode. Im gonna fully charge the battery tommorow and give it a go. Maybe my battery was a little low on charge. But Im not sure why that wouldn't affect the MSC speed. Even with the battery not fully charged, the MSC really revs the motor at a high rate. |
