ESC for my Striker different speed than MSC 10 years 5 months ago #38635

Just an update on the ESC problem I was having. I ended up buying a new transmitter/receiver. I was thinking the old one wasn't getting along with the new ESC. I installed and fired it up and got the same problem. The speed just wasn't the same as the old MSC.
The new transmitter has a reverse throttle switch on it. So I flipped the wires on the motor and switched the switch. Bam!!! the Striker took off like a rocket :P
So now the speed seems right, except.... the car reverses painfully slow. Is this normal? Does the controller need to be programed for reverse? I don't need a super fast reverse, but I would like it to be much quicker than it is now.
Any thoughts on this???

Have you tried trimming the throttle channel on the transmitter?
My other car is a Tamiya - bumper sticker on my van

That doesn't sound unusual, a lot of ESCs have the reverse limited to 50%, though the manual (www.hobbywing.c...WP1060.pdf) is vague on that.

From wider reading it looks as though the F/B/R setting gives 100% forward (up) brake (down), 50% reverse (neutral & then down), the F/R mode gives 100% forward (up), brake (neutral), 100% reverse (down) - though that's only recommended for rock crawlers.

The reverse speed on ESCs is often slower that's a normal trimming.
All my old ESCs have this type of reverse speed. SP520 KO propo etc.

I can live with the slower reverse, even though It struggles to reverse when on a grassy surface. The only thing that is bothering me now is that I'm not getting any braking. When I reversed the wires to the motor and reversed my new controller with the reverse switch, I can only slam on the brakes while reversing the car. When going forward, I get no brakes. I tried letting the trigger go into neutral posisiton and no brakes. I also tried to pull the trigger back and still no brakes. Only when I push the trigger forward while in reverse I can get the wheels to lock up.
Is there any way to correct this without reversing the controller setting again? I would really like to be able to spin out while running forward for quick turns. If I reverse the controller and motor wires again, then Im back to slow forward speed which I don't want.

And thanks again to all for for all the help.

What is your new controller?
If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem mate :)

Looking at the manual for your remote, it seems there is some electronic setup required :y: This setup info is on pg4 of the manual :)

I did do this, or at least try to do it when I first got it. Im not sure if it worked or not. Also, Im not well versed in the RC world. I don't know what End Point adjustments are. Im also confused about this programming part. The 2 channel 3 buttons confuse me. Do I have to push them and hold them in? It say's use 3rd channel push buttons to adjust. Not surer what that means.
If anyone can give me an quick easy tutorial on setting the throttle and brakes, I would geatly appreciate it as I'm just not getting these instructions.
Also after attempting to do this, my reverse seems way slower now than it was before.
