Hi fellas.
I recently got this Bruiser. A bit of a challenge. The chassis is all ok and checks out. The body is causing me issues though. 3 lots of paint and the Blue is taking some shifting. Especially on the rear bed. Any tips on how to remove this paint would be appreciated. Thanks fellas. Mike.

Here are the bumpers...They were covered in thick black paint and under that was a coat of White and under that was a coat of Silver..!
Very difficult to get it all off. They are the Original bumpers i had to keep them.!

Hi again fellas. Trying to get all my post's about the Bruiser resto here instead of on the other thread. ."what i did today".
latest update is this. I've not had much time to do the body what with commitments and work. This is what it looks like now. It's been real hard work getting the paint off between the ridges of the rear bed. Flat surfaces are a breeze compared to ridged surfaces. A lot of work still to do and there is a crack in the rear bed which doesn't worry me. That will all be on show underneath because i'm leaving the underneath unpainted...painted up top you wont see it. This Bruiser will show its scars underneath. And i really need to see the markings. Tamiya RCC Toyota 4WD. Also had a go with this stuff from B&Q to remove the paint. Its called Diall Clean Spirit. It's really mild stuff and doesn't harm plastic. It's not very good but it does soften the paint slightly so it makes it a little bit easier to get off. Cheers guys. |

About the Chassis checking out. It wasn't all perfect.!
The Top Suspension (lower) nuts were missing on all 4 corners. Along with all 4 Brass/Copper tubes. Also the tubes for the Lower suspension mounts were missing. 4 of the Rear leaf spring Tubes were missing. Them 7.5mm ones which are hard to get hold of.! All replaced now. Luckily i had all these in my spares tin. The chassis is now 100% complete with all the correct nuts bolts and washes etc. This is the perils we face when buying a model on-line. We don't actually know what it's like until we get it in our hands. Chassis done...That's the easy part.! The body is ......Giving me nightmares.! I will do it though. |

I spent 4 hours cleaning the Glass for this model. I'd like to know what is the difference between an OG window and a Re-Re one?
They look the same to me..! I'd like to know the answer to that question.

Guys.
Where i am at now. with the Bruiser 3 or 4 weeks of cleaning and sanding. Finally gave it a coat of primer. ( I use white primer.) Coming along ok. One or 2 rough spots but generally ok after a little sanding. Next it the Colour. Tamiya TS 15 and a clear coat. Then the Decals. I did end up getting a set of Re-re declals...I have to stick with Tamiya. Thanks fellas. |

Thank you.
Here's where i am at now. 4 cotes of Tamiya TS15. Over the last 2 weeks. Giving the paint time to set. I have not clear coated it yet. I'm pretty good at painting but by no means the best. This is from a Rattle can. NO air brushing here.! What i do is to the best of my eye sight and my ability. I'm 62 years old but still in this stuff as much as i can be.. Mike
