So we returned from our holiday and I had this pile waiting for me. First off, MCI decals for my Celica body restoration. Secondly, I just think this is a great looking car so when Tamiya announced its release I pre-ordered straight away. That must have been ages ago. And finally, I think this one could end up being a massively error, failing that I’m calling it the money pit, Some parts for a 1974 release Sherman tank. I already know the metal chassis is wrong. I’ll go into details when I post a thread of the “ restoration “. The motors are missing and the unique parts of the drive operation are missing. This is the first time I think I’ve made a huge mistake buying something. At this point I’ll do my usual strip down, clean everything up and see what I’ve got and what’s missing. This feels very challenging at this point, let’s see how bad it is. I think for the actual body I’m good, the Sherman has been re-released a few times so I think getting plastic body parts is the least of the problems. Anyone with any experience of these please let me know how achievable rebuilding the chassis is going to be. Many thanks. Attachments: |

My father built several tanks older and more modern, but always new kits. And his sherman is a modern release with sounds and lights.after, you can build a big static sherman.

Hi Flo thanks for the comment. I’d really like to get it moving as is intended even if I have to modernise it internally. If I can achieve anything it’s to make it RC.

You are right Al. It probably will take time but you'll be proud of it.

Nice ! - Apparently that 280ZX body is exactly the same as the body in the RM kit RA1222. I was in 2 minds about the Fighter Buggy RX 25th Ann when it was release , and didn't pull the trigger on one. Now I sorta' want one .. Isn't it always the way LOL

Yes, the projects can take a while. I've been getting together parts for my Renault restoration for about 10 years. |
