The 58003 Tyrrell P34 arrived today. This feels like a bit of a time capsule. Everything that was sent seems to be in good condition, a few bits are missing, but hopefully that’s not a disaster. The bracket for the rear wing is missing so it was a nice surprise to find a diagram of it in with the original instructions. Hopefully I can cut and bend some thin metal sheet with my DIY level of tools ??? The box is a bit faded, but I’m more than happy to have it, who doesn’t love a Tamiya box. Missing bits - driver, speed controller, brackets to hold body shell on, steering rod ( the one from the steering servo to the complicated looking steering system. I’m hoping I’m covered on all of the above. I have a brand new body set ( I think from Eddy ), I’ve got a couple of the speed controllers from my XR311 builds, I think I’ve got the brackets to fix the shell to the chassis in amongst some spares and the steering rod I can make myself. It looks like I’ve got all the bits for the body, like mirrors, roll hoop. Someone was going to restore this as the white upper body part has been sanded. But as I have a NIP body set this isn’t a problem. I may repaint and tidy up the original body and sell, or see if I can come up with an alternative for the driver, again I may be able to mould something from the re-release body set ??? The chassis looks pretty good a few scapes, but nothing major and the bumper isn’t broken which is an absolute win, because it means I can try and mould one from it for my 935. It’s got to be worth a try at least The early Futaba radio set is a bit of a bonus. It looks in pretty good condition so at some point I’ll have to check if it still works. Also delivered today were some cans of paint, Olive drab for the Sherman and Light sand for a Cheetah or two. The paint was from SC models in Stevenage, ordered yesterday delivered today. And also a big shoutout to Modelfixings Ltd, ordered yesterday delivered today. So two companies worth a mention. The fixings are for the Sherman rebuild, I’ll be trying to use the originals, but some definitely need replacing or are missing. Everything gets painted in Olive drab in the end. So I now have a Sherman, Wild Willy LWB and Tyrrell to restore along with an absolute ton of painting to do. I don’t think I’ll be buying anything in 2024 !!!!!! Attachments: |

Another rabbit hole! For my motor collection, I'm waiting (nervously) for a package coming from Bangkok containing a Transpeed MS 9T Motor and Volac MS ESC. They are soldered together and used, so I figured why not find a good car to mount them in. Since my preference is buggies, I researched here and YT for MS buggies and then found a nice DT-02 MS kit. The seller included the actual tires that Tamiya recommends on the box (kit comes with wheels but no tires). Apparently that's pretty cool, because the "correct" rear tires are difficult to find. So yeah, it's turning out to be a very expensive motor and I'm nervous as heck that it will arrive. It's currently showing Jan 26th as the estimated delivery! IG_tamiyaddiction

The p34 is my oldest Tamiya. Mine is from Lars. And one of the 3 f1 f2 I kept in my collection. I love the double front train and its suspension.
