I have also been looking around here and there today and I wondering if you know of a decent, cheaper place to get shocks. I looked around for some time and Im not too keen on Ebay. The shocks have to be between 75-85 mm, right?

Sorry... I miss read I will be happy to test it on the Lunchbox if you want? Don't think it would work though I run a a couple of Lunchboxes, one on a standard silver can and the other with a fifth shock on the gearbox and a 23T motor. Bit of a monster to control with the 23t motor. To be honest I'm not sure you want a bigger pinion in the Lunchbox, the handling is SO bad that any extra speed would be a bit of a handling nightmare. For oil shocks for a CW01 chassis then see here --> www.ebay.co.uk/...1497.l2649 |

Thanks Dreadly, I appreciate your knowledge and help. Do the oil dampers make that much of a difference or am I pushing too much for a Pumpkin?

Hmmm, they make a little difference, they will stop the bounce that you get with the standard springs but they will not make it handle good. The design of the chassis has too many flaws to drive well out of the box. It was designed to be a bit of fun and it really is but it will never be a racer. Look up the 5th shock mod, as you will have to buy a lot of replacement gearbox springs. Look up the steering mods (Not essential or easy to perform though) Look up alloy body mounts, the plastic ones last about two runs Don't bother with anything faster than a 'sport tuned' or 25T - Not worth it IMHO. And of course, build it with a full bearing set. if you don't enjoy painting, go for one of the special edition chrome or gold versions. |

I will shop around for alloy mounts today, should be an easy find I would think. Thanks for that tip, had no idea that the plastic one's were so fragile.
I am now honestly on the fence about a tuned up motor or any of that. I just wanna have fun w/ this thing, run it on somewhat mild off road conditions and maybe some wheelies in the street, obviously not looking for a racer whatsoever. I could remember from my old BF that it was a good idea to go w/ full bearings from the get go. I plan on getting the chrome edition, it isn't that I dislike painting, I just love the chrome look. |

Hi and welcome.
I did a picture thread on the MP and LB chassis with almost all hop-us possible (JR did one too with some more text if i am correct.) Here is a little list with usefull modifications and things to get, - Ballbearings - Oil shocks (plus the fifth mod), you can get the ones mentioned real cheap in HK or Japan ebay shops. - Alloy body mounts (LB dont no MP, on ebay) - Front and rear damper braces (diy) - rear suspension mod with Junfac parts. - reposition the steering servo (diy) - you can modify the front suspension with team CRP parts. - ESC get an waterproof one from Mtroniks (sports something) or the XT 20 from modelsports.uk - Motor as mentioned Tamiya sporttuned or the new Torquetuned. - foams and put those inside the tires. (diy) - a light kit with some LEDs or diy with wire/led etc. For such a 'simple' toy lots of possibilities.

WOW, thanks, this is a bit overwhelming I must admit. I honestly don't trust myself enough to try and do the 5th shock mod. I know, lame, but I'm being honest. I will def. pick up the alloy mounts and maybe a new motor and ESC for starters.

None of the above is neccesary but you can/could do it all step by step. And have a read at some previous threads and a good look at he pictures it is all easier than it sometimes looks. For starters, ballbearings and a set of 4 oilshocks will do. The rest can be done after time during winter maintenance

Yeah, there are a few I would like to do.
So if I run a motor upgrade, I have to upgrade the pinion for certain, right? |

Nah, if you stick with a Tamiya sportstuned or torque tune than the standard pinion will do. Does have just a 'little' bit more rpm than the silver cans (the ones that come with the kits) but are more energy efficient. Motor is quite easy to swap so can be done anytime you feel like it. Do the front brace thing that is a usefull one too.
