I love the small projects in RC, they always seem to take the most time...

My weakness for detail made this small project into something more extensive again.
I decided to do a full reconstruction on the headlight units and this (like you said) has taken a few hours already. :S

Can't really live with anything looking like this. ;)
So the first thing I did was place new pieces of lexan over it and make some holes where the lights will come :

I can't quite see, but is the LED holder inside the light bucket?

The openings are as close as possible to the diameter of the LED holders.
When positioned in there, I can secure them with the loose nut that can de screwed on. :cheer:
Then I can put in or take out the LEDs and wiring at any time.

The inner size of the holders did not correspond with the thickness of the lights though.
I had to drill out and sand them quite a bit. And also cut off a piece of the rubber covering the lights themselves.
But now it fits like a glove! I'll make some more detailed pics later. :)

The light buckets will also be completely smoothened with putty and get a respray of course.
Hopefully removing any marks of the previous damage that way.

Messed around a bit with the C11 on the parking lot...
The antenna holder mysteriously vanished so it shuts off now and then.
And I forgot the plastic part to keep the battery in place - so that's hanging out in the end.

At least I got to drive a bit. If only to see the potential. Loads of oversteer on the car.
But I'm guessing that's quite up to spec with the original Group C.

For true realism, shouldn't it take off, loop the loop & land in some trees?

That would give some spectacular images but a lot of restoration. :pinch:

I'm running the old foams without any additive too - that'll make a difference. Together with a more accurate set up...
Don't mind learning how to drive this car though. :silly:

got the parts

Great that they arrived. Hope you have good use for them. :)
Could have taken a lot longer so that's pretty cool...

Light bucket restoration of the C11 is finished. For now anyway.
Not the best result ever (need some finer putty) but it's looking much better than before.
So I can now put them back on the car...
Pics will be posted soon.

Angel eyes :

Full strength :

I found out I'm teasing all the Beamer fans a bit here!
For good order - it's a Sauber... ;)

Last thing on the list is fixing the body to an acceptable level.
I noticed a few differences between the original car and the Tamiya :

- First of all the exhaust is "pointing" the other way.
- The position of the turning light is not really accurate.
- Cutting a few lines out of the black decal above the exhaust would also be closer to the real car...

The stance of the Tamiya could be a little wider. This way the wheels would stick out a little more to fill the arches.
I think this could only be solved with tyres and rims that have more width...

Since I have to get used to driving this car, I'll not try to make a work of art of the body.
That would hurt too much the first time I lose track of it. ;)

Looks great! Nice new shiny parts. Better colour than green I think... B)

Here's a pic of my Sauber in the dark - with the lights on :

Really have to take care of that scratch in the middle.

Not really having the space to drive the car won't stop me from upgrading it still.
A set of (black!) TRF springs is coming this way :

And a touch more titanium. :cheer:

Two things a RC legend can't have too much of, Titanium, and Carbon Fibre...
