With the weight decrease I'd certainly consider it a hop up.
And I estimate aluminium would be strong enough...
Copper might be a bit soft but as long as it doesn't deform, it'll do of course. :)

maybe a solid aluminium bar would be better, still lighter than the steel one.
i could make 5 out of this.......

Sounds like a plan. That'll still save 60% of the original weight. :cheer:

Of course, leaving it out entirely would save 100% of the weight ... but I tried that on a Lunchbox & it had the annoying habit of converting itself to a long wheelbase version after even minor impacts :silly:

i really dont think changing it to aluminium will have that much effect on performance or handling etc. maybe some sort of linear bearing at each end of the shaft may help the smoothness of the suspension and stop the end plates from wearing. will have a looksee tomorrow if anything can be done

Maybe you could look around here :

Hobby King

They have a 2.4 GHz Tx/Rx combo from their own brand for $23 :

This one

Edit - posted that Rx a bit premature. Doesn't seem to work quite well with cars when you look at the controls. :S
But five bucks for a metal geared servo is pretty awesome :

Am I correct in the assumption that the Hornhopper will get oil shocks and the second build a regular setup?
In any case - don't go shopping for shocks just yet. ;)

yep, my plan is to fit CVA shockers on the hornhopper then just fit the standard hopper shocks onto the other build
